Years upon years of education are necessary before a doctor can perform one surgery alone. And that education must transform into residencies and successful surgical guidance before a doctor grows into a standalone practitioner, let alone one with his or her own office. Dr. Ronald Perlman achieved significant education and residency experience prior to opening the doors of his own Washington, D.C. plastic surgery office in 1984 -- and then growing into a regional, national and international success, well-known for his aesthetic and cosmetic work.
Ronald Perlman began his educational pursuits at American University, from which he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He then attended D.C.’s Howard University College of Medicine for his M.D. While there, he completed two residencies under Georgetown University Hospital; Perlman focused on general surgery first, then the more specific tasks of plastic and reconstructive surgery. He graduated in 1984 with his M.D., and also completed a fellowship in the south at the University of Alabama Hospital in hand surgery and microvascular surgery. It was only after this extensive gain of knowledge that Perlman ventured into his own opportunity, able to perform plastic and reconstructive surgery on others, opening his own office in 1984. Since then, he has earned a praise-worthy reputation in the field over more than 30 years. In order to help people feel beautiful, Ronald Perlman MD knew he needed to be prepared.
